Wendy was born and brought up in South Africa. Her early years were in the former Transkei, before her family moved to Pietermaritzburg in the Natal/Kwa Zulu province. There she attended school and started to draw and paint. She studied art and has continued to paint and draw through all her travels and moves, first on her own through Europe and then with her Dutch husband and two children around South Africa and in Europe.

She is first and foremost a portrait artist, being able to capture her sitter’s likeness and presence on the canvas. Having studied watercolours, Wendy has a very delicate touch and this comes across in her oil paintings as well. She loves colour and contrast which gives her art great strength and vibrancy. She enjoys using all mediums.

Besides doing portraiture she has been commissioned to paint many privately owned houses around the county of Surrey where she now lives.

Wendy has many other interests which all involve her creativity and love of colour - gardening, sewing, decoupage and furniture painting as well as cooking!
